The Benefits of Indoor
Fountains
|
Beauty, serenity, and so
much more.
There are some very obvious
reason why people buy indoor fountains
for their homes, but there are also some
rather nice benefits that most people
would not even think about. Let's take a
look at some of those added benefits.
We'll start with the more obvious
first.

Indoor fountains add beauty
to your home.
The decorative appeal of indoor water fountains
is obvious. These beautiful pieces can only be
referred to as art in motion. Everyone is looking
for unique decorating ideas for their home. Indoor
fountains are the perfect choice for adding a stunning
accent to any room and will have everyone
talking.
Relaxation and Stress
Relief.
Have you ever relaxed near a babbling brook or
stream and felt all the stress and worries of your
day-to-day life just float away with the gentle
waves? Who wouldn't want
to experience that feeling on a daily basis? Flowing water is
one of the most relaxing and naturally calming sounds on
earth and now you can bring one of nature's best stress
relievers to any room in your house... or even your
office.
Negative Ions
In the case of ions, being negative is a
positive thing. Our bodies need
negative ions, but just about everything we do creates
positive ions. Negative ions are abundant in nature, but
the closer you get to the cities the fewer negative ions
are available. And in your homes
there are very few if any. Every electrical
device in your house produces positive ions as do our own
bodies. Negative ion's
counteract the positive ions and neutralize them, but in
our homes there are overwhelming numbers of positive
ions. Your shower of course creates negative ions, but
it's just not practical to keep that running all day
long. Negative ions also help clean the air of
pollutants. Their negative
charge attracts dust and other airborne impurities,
removing them from the air. This allows us all
to breathe healthier air and is especially nice for those
with allergies. In addition, when
humans are living in a negative ion rich environment, the
negative ions into the bloodstream and naturally increase
serotonin levels. This been shown to help relieve stress,
alleviate depression, increase our daytime energy levels
and improve our overall mood. That's why we
think it's important to point out that indoor waterfalls
and fountains create negative ions, which in turn makes
for cleaner, healthier and more energized air.
The White Noise Effect
White noise is created when something generates
sound in all different frequencies at the same
time. I
know you've experienced this many times in your life but
never realized what it was. Maybe you've been
in a really crowded building, with hundreds or even
thousands of people, all hanging around in groups
talking. If you got there
earlier, when there were fewer people, you could probably
hear the people at the next table clearly. But as more and
more people showed up, the harder it became to hear until
it got to the point where no matter how hard you tried
you could not hear what they were saying at the next
table. Your initial thought might be that it just became
louder with so many people, but volume has nothing to do
with it.
These people are probably not talking any louder
than the people at the next table and they are farther
away. What you are
experiencing is the saturation of the frequencies and you
can no longer discern the individual voices. You then just hear
the “buzz” of the crowd….. Or maybe outside
in a rainstorm, you may have found it harder to hear
someone you are talking with. Again, it's not
the volume of the rain, it’s the white noise effect
masking out the frequency of the other person's voice and
other sounds. Flowing water has
that effect. It doesn't block
noise; it masks it so that it's not as annoying and
distinct. In many cases, so
indistinct that you don't know it's there.
Improved Work, Study,
and Sleep
The combination of the relaxing, tranquil
sounds and the white noise effect, gently filter out the
annoying background noises that might otherwise disturb your
concentration. Indoor water
fountains help create the perfect environment for working or
studying. When you're trying to
concentrate the littlest sounds can be
annoying. The
ticking of the clock, the person a few cubicles down from
you tapping their pencil on their desk, or even the kids
down the street playing basketball. While obviously
perfect for the home, tabletop fountains are also great
for your desk at work or for a student’s dorm room. The
same benefits that create a great environment for better
concentration also create an ideal sleeping
environment.
Humidity.
While not everyone has to suffer through
low humidity, many of us do. Whether you just live
in an arid climate or the winter cold has frozen the
moisture out of the air, you suffer just the
same. Low
humidity dries everything out; your skin, your hair, your
eyes, and even your mucous membranes. This then leads to
itching, chapping, dry eyes, nose, and throat, and an
increased susceptibility to colds and respiratory
infections. Your
home and belongings suffer as well.
Everything dries out and cracks, and static
electricity runs rampant. I'm guessing this
should be obvious, but indoor water fountains are natural
humidifiers. And unlike other humidifiers, that may force
too much moisture into the air; you don't run the risk of
over humidifying and creating a healthy environment for
mold.
